NYC Sky Rise Mascara

This was another surprisingly good yet cheap buy (it is just £1.99 from Superdrug). I’m not sure if it’s beachside my lack of experience therefore more generous reviews or extensive (cough, cough) internet research that I like to do before I buy anything, but this has proved to be another nice mascara.

The brush (wand?) looks a bit odd with its swirls but it doesn’t work that differently to a normal brush. What I love about it is that the stick part of the wand – you’ll have to excuse the names that I am giving all the parts – is that it’s longer than usual so it is a lot more comfortable to reach both the lower and upper lashes.

The formula flakes and smudges a little on application but it seems to last well after that; there’s always something passable at the end of the day. It gives length (as suggested) but not much volume. It gives your lashes that spider-leg look after a couple of applications.

I would buy this mascara again. The good product and awesome price has won me over. I would rate it 4/5.

Is it Spring-like where you are? The weather’s not to good over here, sadly. Still, I have the holidays to look forward to!

November’s Surprising Product | Incredilash Mascara

I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in a while – I was ill midweek, which is when I usually write.

Anyway, today I’ll be jotting down my thoughts for the surprisingly good 2True Incredilash Mascara, which was a mere £1.99 from Superdrug.
Ok, let’s get this straight: this mascara is probably not the one you want to use when going out to a party. It’s a day-to-day mascara. Having said that, though, it’s a much better mascara than I expected (I haven’t had particularly good experiences with cheap drugstore mascaras).
The packaging is not particularly attractive; it basically looks a bit cheap and nasty. But I’m actually not that bothered about packaging, to be honest, and this is fine in the bottom of arise or bag.

The 2true website says of the product: ‘This long wear, non smudge mascara is a must-have for any make up bag. Forget expensive lash growth serums or uncomfortable lash inserts, simply apply this purse friendly mascara with ultra lengthening lash technology for natural, voluminous lashes in an instant.’  The superdrug website says: Ultra lengthening, long wear mascara with eyelash enhancing complex to help strengthen lashes. Non Smudging.’

Now, I’m not too sure about this matching up to lash growth serums, but it does seem to naturally lengthen them a little after you have worn it for several days or so. The mascara itself doesn’t give anything special in the lengthening/volumizing department, but it does seem to last a fair few hours without smudging (obviously, within reason).

Because I’m more of a fan of mascaras that give you a ‘I-have-naturally-super-long-black-lashes’ look, I’m not too hard to please. If you’re looking for a very lengthening mascara, you probably want to keep that in mind.

The brush is probably the best thing about this mascara: it’s very easy to apple to both top and bottom lashes, which I sometimes have trouble reaching without getting it on my nose because they are virtually not there! My only problem with it is that it doesn’t seem to pick up a lot of product. I’m not sure if it’s that there isn’t much in the tube to start with, or it’s an actual fault with the brush.

Overall, it’s an excellent mascara for the price! I’m very happy with it. When I bought this, I also picked up NYC Applelicious Lip Balm and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (yes, that one), which I’ll do a brief review on soon. I hope you are all enjoying the first week of December!

Superdrug Haul

My superdrug delivery has finally arrived!

Superdrug haul

So, I bought (from left to right)  2true smooth matte pressed powder in shade 3 (Rose beige), MUA sheer finish lip gloss in Some Me Time, MUA bronzer in shade 2, MUA mascara in shade 4 (brown) and Miss Sporty lip gloss in Who Bought me Flowers.

I swatched all of them except the mascara here:

All the MUA products were £1, which is great! The 2true matte powder and the Miss Sporty lip gloss were broth £1.99, which made this one of my least expensive hauls.

So, onto the reviewing…

2true Smooth Matte Pressed Powder

2true matte powder

When I first saw this, I thought the powder would be a little to light but it’s actually fine. I’m not sure it will still match in the summer, though…but, hey, it’s not summer at the moment, is it?

The powder comes in a nice looking case – despite this, I find it hard to open because you just have to pull the lid off instead of twisting it. I think I’d find a compact to be easier.

It also had a bit of a strange smell, though this wore off very quickly.

MUA mascara

This mascara was only £1, which I thought I may as well go ahead on, considering I haven’t got much to lose.

The packaging is very boring, and although it looks quite big, I’m not convinced that there is a lot of mascara in this one.

Anyway, the product itself is actually not bad: it takes a couple of coats to lengthen the lashes but gives a nice natural look. It’s very much a day-to-day mascara and you should invest in something a little bit darker and more lengthening or volumising if you were expecting this to get you party-read.

The mascara hasn’t flaked so far – my doubt is that it does sting slightly after you put it on so his isn’t good for sensitive eyes.

Miss Sporty – Miss Cocktail Lip Gloss in Who Bought Me Flowers

miss sporty lip gloss

This lip gloss is much more tinted, coloured in a pretty red/pink colour. The packaging looks a bit – if you’ll excuse the language – naf and cheapy, but don’t let this put you off because it’s a great lip gloss. There’s not much else to say!

MUA Bronzer in Shade 2

mua bronzer

This bronzer was much darker than expected (if you compare to the picture here) but I actually liked this chocolate colour more.

It’s not very pigmented so you have to get a substantial amount onto your brush if you want to make any difference. It does what it’s supposed to do and not much else (I did like the lack of glitter, though).

Opinions on the mascara & the internet

I just thought that I’ve done quite a lot of makeup reviews and tutorials so today I’m going to talk a bit about my opinions on mascara & the internet. Ok, so mascara is makeup but I’m talking about my opinion on it. Just for the purpose of this, ok? Hehehe.

What do I think about mascara?

Ok, so, there are quite a lot of girls at school who wear tons of mascara and no other makeup. I do not understand it. Sure, mascara is pretty cool and it can look really nice, but not when you wear that much.

Myself, I’d rather wear foundation/tinted moisturiser and have nice skin but have normal lashes than have super long, spidery lashes but horrible skin. All that mascara just looks horrible. I’m sorry. I just need to rant about this.

And what about the internet? Is it a good or bad thing?

I used the internet probably earlier than I should have, discovering the forums on an adoptable website at about 11. I found that being able to be whoever I wanted, in a place where there were people like me was really nice. I didn’t give away any personally details and it was all fine, still is.

Being able to be however you want on the internet is also a bad thing. I’m sure you’ve heard horror stories where a teenager has met up with this person they met online and they turned out to be a creepy old man. These are very serious, but also very rare. If you’re sensible, then it’s pretty unlikely anything bad would happen.

I find the internet is an amazing thing: it can connect you up with people around the world, help you to become a stronger and happier person than you were before. It does have its flaws, like cyber-bullying and anonymity, but hopefully you can tell an adult or responsible person about this and get it sorted out.

So, basically, I think the internet is a good thing!

Tell me a bit about your opinion below and stay tuned for more stuff from me!
